Outpatient Substance Use and Mental Health Therapist
(Part-time 20 hours per week)

POSITION SUMMARY
The Outpatient Substance Use and Mental Health Therapist is responsible for providing group and individual outpatient mental health and substance abuse counseling with the primary focus on unhoused clients and clients in sober living, pregnant women, women with dependent children, intravenous drug users, and justice-involved persons. This position will do intakes, assessments, and mental health evaluations, have an active caseload to provide 2 groups per week and individual therapy. This position is a Part-Time position that’s authorized to work 20 hours per week, and reports to the Sr. Director of Clinical and Recovery Programs.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Clinical Services
• Provide clinical interventions that address the following: substance use and/or co-occurring mental health issues, gender specific care and substance using pregnant women, support for women with dependent children and their families, and justice-involved individuals.
• Provide treatment groups for diverse populations, with emphasis on substance use recovery and mental health support.
• Conduct intakes, mental health evaluations, and substance use assessments
• Maintain an active case load of individual clients, to fit within 20-hour position.
• Identify clients’ needs for prenatal care, mental health care/evaluation, substance abuse counseling, housing, domestic violence support, prevention, and/or counseling, TANF, and make appropriate referrals.
• Reduce barriers for clients and improve access to services and recovery.
• Support clients involved with DHS or have justice involvement. Engage with care coordination and collaboration with other community partners.
• Utilize treatment approaches that implement ethical, culturally competent and evidence base practices.
• Identify strategies to support clients in increasing their self-sufficiency and self-empowerment.
• Maintain HIPAA compliant files and documentation as required.
Service Coordination & Administration
In addition, this job requires service coordination that includes, but is not limited to, the following:
• HIPAA compliant documentation and timely notes.
• Maintain accurate records, including client charts and internal and external reports; maintain confidentiality and privacy per HIPAA standards.
• Work on a highly collaborative team and integrate with the overall organization.
• Collaborate with community partners and ensure clients have access to appropriate professional staffing.
• Attend client staffing with other agencies and entities with which clients are involved when indicated.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES
• Knowledge and application of DSM-5.
• Knowledge and application of code of ethics associated with respective counseling certifications and licenses.
• Understand regulations and standards regarding privacy and confidentiality, per HIPAA.
• Ability to be flexible and empathetic.
• Knowledge and practice of trauma-informed approaches.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Computer skills in word processing, spreadsheets, and databases, including Excel and Word.
• Professional communication skills.
• Experience working directly with people from diverse socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds.
• Ability to maintain professional boundaries with clients.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
• Master’s degree in social work or psychology.
• 3-5 years of relevant experience.
• Professional license such as LSW, LCSW, LMFT or LPC (with substance use disorder experience).
• CAT or LAC preferred.
• Bilingual preferred.
• Completion of appropriate continuing education requirements every year in order to maintain licenses and certifications.
• Understanding of HIPAA regulations and standards regarding privacy and confidentiality in the provision of therapy services and medical billing.
• Valid Colorado driver’s license, clean driving record, and must have personal vehicle insurance.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
The pay range for this position is $34 – $38 per hour, depending on experience.
This is a part-time, non-exempt position authorized to work 20 hours per week.
