SUMMARY
The Billing Specialist works with our supportive housing programs to ensure billing is done timely and accurately for Medicaid. This role is responsible for completing billing claims timely in order to receive reimbursement for services. This is a full-time position and may have the option to work in the main office or hybrid with some days working remotely.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for organizing, submitting, and managing the billing of our residential treatment centers for Medicaid Billing.
- Works closely with the Program Managers of each treatment center to capture all billable services for clients. Works with new client intake paperwork for new client data.
- Coordinates with counseling team members to ensure all encounters are ready for billing each month.
- Uses an electronic health record system to track and prepare billing for all client encounters.
- Ensures accuracy of documentation, follow-ups on denied claims, and resolves billing problems.
- Creates summary reports of all billing activity for management regularly and as requested.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
HOMEWARD PIKES PEAK TEAM RESPONSIBILITIES
- Attends and participates in staff meetings.
- Attends, participates and interacts with donors or fundraising events as requested.
- Produces documentation daily, and as requested for audits or other business requirements.
- Maintains work and office environment to professional standards.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES and MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or GED.
- One (1) year of medical and Medicaid billing experience in Colorado, including knowledge of claims processing, denials, and appeals.
- Proficiency in general computer skills and Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook. Experience with word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
- Outstanding communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Knowledge of and experience with Availity or other billing systems.
- Understanding of HIPAA regulations and standards regarding privacy and confidentiality in the provision of therapy services and medical billing.
- Knowledge of basic care coordination, medical / hospital operations, and community resources.
- Employment is contingent upon completion of a satisfactory criminal background check, and a post-offer pre-employment drug screen.
- Valid Colorado driver’s license, clean driving record, and must have personal vehicle insurance.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- While performing job duties, the employee will be regularly required to sit and stand for the duration of their shift.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
- The salary for this position is $16.00 – $21.00 per hour, depending on experience. This is a full-time non-exempt position.
